Research assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Faculty IV - Institute of Computer Engineering and Microelectronics / Chair of Embedded Systems Architectures. Reference number: IV-182/19 (starting at 28/08/19 / for max. 5 years / closing date for applications 31/05/19). Part-time employ­ment may be pos­sible.

Work­ing field:

  • Participation in and also Extension of the group´s research
  • Participation in the teaching activities of the group
  • Cooperation with and advising of Bachelor and Master students
  • Close collaboration with other European universities and industry partners
  • Managing research projects and publishing research results
  • Assistance with acquisition of new projects
  • Participation in other group activities, such as the public Image of the group


  • Successfully completed University degree (Diplom, Mater or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer engineering or similar
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a Team in a structured way
  • Experience with reconfigurable systems such as FPGAs and with the hardware description language VHDL
  • Programming experience with embedded Systems

Ide­ally, can­did­ates should have:

  • Practical experience with at least one of the following: computer architectures, application-specific instruction set processors, GPU architectures, ASIC design, multicore architectures, parallel programming models, operating systems

Erwünschte Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten:
- Theoretische und praktische Erfahrungen mit Compiler Design, Compiler Construction, Rechnerarchitektur und Multicore Systems
- Hervorragende Programmiererfahrung in C++
- Praktische Erfahrung mit dem LLVM Compiler
