In Janur­ary 2016 a new EU-fun­ded research pro­ject called LPGPU2 has been star­ted and the AES group at TU Ber­lin par­ti­cip­ate. We are looking for bright stu­dents, inter­ested in pur­su­ing a PhD and performing cut­ting edge research on low power GPUs and related software together with our European part­ners. In LPGPU2 we are looking into innov­at­ive ways to optim­ize the power con­sumpting of low power mobile GPUs and the soft­ware that uses these GPUs.

Work­ing field: Low Power GPU archi­tec­ture, power estim­a­tion, soft­ware devel­op­ment tools

Require­ments: As a suc­cess­ful can­did­ate you should hold a uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Engin­eer­ing or a related field and should be highly inter­ested in research and motiv­ated to pur­sue a PhD. Strong pro­gram­ming skills are required (C++). Can­did­ates should be inter­ested in GPU archi­tec­ture and low power design. Exper­i­ence with GPU APIs such as CUDA, OpenCL, OpenGL or Vulkan is desir­able but not required. AES is an inter­na­tional group and a good com­mand of both spoken and writ­ten Eng­lish is required.
